Dogs Soul – Heaven, Bible, God (All You Need to Know)

Many dog owners have felt the heartache of losing their dogs. We begin to think about where they are now or will we ever see them again. We keep thinking if they, too, go to heaven.

So, do dogs have souls? There are two answers to this: yes and no. Christians believe that dogs do have souls and go to heaven. Theologians believe that dogs are soulless and they are gone once they are dead.

One of the greatest joys in life is to have a pet. This pet gets to be your friend and your family. They bring you so much fun and happiness.

Some people do not even have a family but have a dog. Of course, it will bear you so much pain when you lose them. Some people who treat their dog as their family grieve for it as much as someone would grieve a human companion’s loss.

This grief is why so many people wonder so many things even after a dog has died. Dog owners think about the dog’s soul. They question whether the dog has a soul and whether they die just like humans.

Do they go wandering around the earth too? Do they also get to heaven? The Bible did not give an outright answer to these questions.

But we can discuss something concerning these thoughts. So together, let us further explore what happens if a dog’s life will be taken away from us.

Do Dogs Have Souls?

In the past few decades, scientists have proved that animals possess intelligence quite similar to humans. Some animals like whales can communicate with their kind in an audible language.

Monkeys can even be taught complicated things that humans do. People can also train dogs to do almost similar tasks to what people can do.

If animals have intelligence, does this mean that they, too, have souls? Are they the same with humans with a soul or spirit like humans? Theologians have answered this question with a “no.”

They said that people interpret animals and humans the same. At the beginning of life, God made humans and animals.

In the Bible, animals were given the breath of life, but theologians said that this does not mean that animals have an immortal spirit. People said that if animals have a soul, they are probably not the same as humans.

They argued that humans have wisdom. We are capable of separating good from the bad. That is different with animals.

They act out from their drives and instincts. They behave based on what they need. If they are hungry, they will do all means to get food and feed their families.

Now, humans also do the same. But it is in the word “wisdom” that humans and animals differ.

People have a lot to consider because they are blessed with wisdom. It is not the same with animals and, in this case, dogs.

Do Dogs Go To Heaven When They Die?

The prophet Isiah said that God would include animals in the new heaven and the new earth. In the last book of Revelation, Apostle John’s vision of heaven includes animals.

There is also a book written by C.S. Lewis called “The Problem of Pain,” the author suggested that animals can go to heaven with their interactions with human beings. This theory came from the thought that humans go to heaven with God’s interactions.

We can go back to the fundamental definition of heaven. Heaven provides happiness and peace with no end.

If your happiness involves your dog, you will most likely see and meet your dog in life after death. Even Pope Francis himself that “Paradise is open to all God’s creatures.”

The Bible never did confirm nor truthfully denied this question. They did not answer this question directly. This lack of an answer is why we can only research it and draw our conclusions based on what is here in front of us.

According to the Bible, God made animals with the same dust that we are made of. Frankly, this will depend on us. You can either believe that dogs go to heaven or think that they will not.

Will We See Pets In Heaven?

In talking about the new heaven and new earth, the Bible mentioned that animals would be present. The description said animals for three more verses.

Though no specific animals have been mentioned, it would be safe to conclude that all animals are included in heaven. But in the greater sense, heaven is all about happiness.

God brings people to heaven to give them eternal peace and happiness. God is very loving, and he will not abandon anyone.

If we would go back to the time where Noah built an ark, God commanded Noah to save the people and the animals. God did not even mention directly in the Bible that Noah would bring animals.

Instead, the animals naturally went inside the arc and joined Noah and his family. With this, let us keep in mind that God created all things at the beginning of the earth, including animals.

When the right time arrives, He will take them back, humans and animals. Let us also remember that heaven provides happiness. If your dog is one of your joy, then it is sure that God will bring your dog to heaven and back to you.

This question haunts every child that has lost their dogs. But this is not only meant for children. Even adults question this.

Even grown-ups think about this. Christians will answer this question with a yes. Yes, pets will go to heaven. However, theologians will answer otherwise. It is up to you what you would believe.

What The Bible Says About Losing A Pet?

There is indeed no specific answer to this question. As mentioned, God did not talk about it directly in the Bible. But there is a verse suggesting that all humans and animals are the same and return to the same place.

Why Did God Take My Dog Away?

This is a question that dog owners who have lost their dogs have been asking themselves. This is not something that you should bother yourself with. Dogs are taken away not to be punished but to be rested.

God did not take away your dog to give them a miserable life. God is good all the time, and that will never change. He also might have another plan for your dog.

This circumstance is not to put in grief and to hurt you. This is for your dog. This is for your dog’s peace and happiness.

He might even be saving your dog for possible pain in the future. Know that people and animals die for them to rest in His love.

Prayer For Grieving The Loss Of A Pet

One way to ease your grief if you lost a pet is through prayer. With that, below is a prayer that you can speak for the death of your beloved pet.

My Dear Friend,

May you find the things that you seek. You are now with the Father Almighty. May you find healing and peace in His arms. Be hopeful in all circumstances. May the good Holy Spirit guide you in your new journey and endeavors. May you find the peace of mind and understanding that your new journey will keep you at rest and with pure happiness. May you remember all our good memories together. We will be here and will continue praying for you. Amen.

Bible Verses About Dogs Dying

People are very fond of dogs. Some dog owners consider their dogs as their family.

This makes it more painful if the dog will leave this earth. Some Bible verses will help people with their grief from losing their dogs.

1. Psalm 22:24

For he has not despised or disdained the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help.

This Bible verse talks about being there. This verse states that God is there and listens to their cry and pain when a dog or an animal suffers. This talks about the comforting presence of God and how he never fails to be there for us.

This verse says that God cared for us all, humans and animals. And that their cries are not in vain because God heard them.

2. Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

This verse is about not being afraid. Dying is a scary thing. It may even be more frightening for our dogs, but we cannot hear their thoughts, so it is essential to be there for them to feel reassured.

Bible Verses About Dogs In Heaven

A Bible verse about dogs in heaven brings comfort to those who grieve. The following verses will provide you comfort and peace. These are also Bible verses that indicate that dogs will accompany humans in heaven.

1. Genesis 1:30

And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give every green plant for food. And it was so.

This verse is about God saying that he made animals during his creation and gave them the breath of life. It can also be interpreted as something that tells us that animals will be well provided. That could be in heaven or anywhere else that God will deem fit.

2. Ecclesiastes 3:18-20

I said in my heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts. For what happens to the children of man and what happens to the beasts is the same; as one dies, so dies the other. They all have the same breath, and man has no advantage over the beasts, for all is vanity. All go to one place. All are from the dust, and to dust all return.

This verse is very appropriate in dealing with a pet loss. It portrayed here the relation of a person and his pet. The two belong with each other.

If one will die, the other will grieve. It also stated here that all animals and humans would return to one single place and, as a result, will bring them together once again.

Bible Verses For Pet Loss

There is a comfort from relevant Bible verses that talk about our pets dying. If you are looking for Bible verses about pet loss, the following passages ask for strength, encouragement, and help through these difficult times.

1. Revelation 5:13

And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

This verse depicts the image that humans and animals, together, worship the Lord.

2. John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.

Peace is a crucial ingredient in our lives. Peace is required to rest in serenity and calmness. This verse tells us not to be afraid because we are not gone alone if we are gone.

God is with us. Humans and animals who have passed away are now finding peace. Peace is a requirement to have eternal life in the presence of God.

Summary

In summary, the Bible has not directly answered the questions about dogs with their souls and their journey to heaven. However, Bible verses mention some animals and how humans and animals are alike and will go to the same place.

Of course, many experts would disagree with the dog having a soul, but you can decide what to believe. It is in your hands. The answers to these questions were not laid for us. We have to draw our conclusions and based them on what is presented to us in reality.
